General Stephen Dill Lee, Commanding General, United Confederate Veterans, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1906     Welcome to the Cyberspace home of the 13th Virginia Mechanized Cavalry Camp #9.  We are a chartered camp in the Virginia Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV).  Located in the Tidewater area of southeastern Virginia, we are a group of men who are direct descendants of Confederate veterans.  Our charge, as stated above, is to ensure that the good name and memory of the Confederate soldier or sailor will always be remembered, and that the sacrifices made by all Southerners in the defense of their homeland are always honored.  We are a Mechanized Cavalry camp, one of two in the SCV.  As the Cavalrymen of the CSA rode their mighty steeds across the South, often behind enemy lines to advance the colors, so do we, the men of the Mechanized Cavalry ride on our iron horses, advancing the colors and proudly proclaiming our rich heritage.   If you come here looking for racism, white supremacy, hate or other similarly abhorrent material, move on and look elsewhere because you will not find it here.  What you will find is current and historical information about the cause for which our ancestors fought, the freedom of the Southern states.  This information includes local heritage events, historical reenactments and other social gatherings where our Southern heritage is celebrated.  Please check back often and if you would like any additional information about the 13th Virginia Mechanized Cavalry Camp #9 or the Sons of Confederate Veterans, please contact one of the camp officers listed in the Contacts section.
